‘We can’t reach our Co2 2020 targets even if we stand on our Heads’….. that’s according to Proff. John Fitzgerald, Climate Change Advisory Council of Ireland.
Main Points:
- The recession was the only ‘policy’ which worked so far in reducing Ireland’s Co2
- We need to produce 1M fewer tonnes of Co2 per year
- Ireland will have reduced its Co2 by only 1% from its target set in 2007 by the time 2020 comes around
- We could be facing a Co2 tax of €80 per tonne by 2030
